Overview

The Centre for Environmental Law (CEL), WWF-India, delivers advanced legal education through its PGD and LL.M. programmes, bridging the persistent gap between environmental challenges and legal capacity. CEL strengthens environmental legal literacy, cultivates regulatory awareness and equips learners with the analytical tools required to navigate India’s evolving governance ecosystem through structured academic training and practice-grounded learning.

WWF-India and National Law University Delhi co-develop specialised diploma programmes that merge academic depth with field-led insights. This partnership ensures rigorous, application-focussed curricula that reflect India’s environmental regulatory realities. Together, they create a talent pipeline of practitioners capable of shaping compliance frameworks, governance systems and resilient development outcomes across the environmental sector.

FAQs

Yes. The Centre for Environmental Law (CEL) offers internships of a minimum duration of 45 days throughout the year.

Internships are open to law students enrolled in undergraduate programmes (3rd–5th year of a five-year course and 2nd–3rd year of a three-year LL.B.) as well as postgraduate programmes.

No, there is no upper age limit to do our courses, provided the applicant meets our minimum eligibility criteria.

Applicants from any academic stream who hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution are eligible to apply for the programme.

No. The PGD programmes are open to candidates from all disciplines who meet the eligibility criteria and have an interest in environmental governance.

Yes. The programmes are structured to accommodate full-time professionals, with a flexible online structure.

Applicants must hold a recognised LL.B. degree or equivalent qualification. Prior exposure to environmental subjects is advantageous but not mandatory.

The LL.M. classes are conducted offline in New Delhi.

The LL.M. programme is delivered through a dual-institution model. JGLS Faculty teaches the core courses, while WWF-India experts bring field-based, policy-driven insights into the classroom and lead the specialised environmental, energy and climate components.
